AI policy

Teosto Cultural Foundation's policy on the use of AI tools in creative work and in processing of applications.

Acceptable use of AI tools in creative work

The goal of the Foundation is to support creative work made by people. The Foundation does not provide funding for works created in entirety by generative AI services. We do recognise that the use of AI tools in the technical stages of the creative process is an everyday practice for creators. At their best, AI tools support the Foundation’s goals if they offer more time and space for the creative processes that are central for creative choices and decisions.

Consequences of non-acceptable AI use for applicants

We trust our applicants. We do not have the means to verify if AI has been used in creative work contrary to our AI policy.

By submitting an application, applicants agree to comply with the terms of our AI policy. Should we discover that AI tools have been used against the policy after funding has been awarded, the Foundation can revoke the funding, suspend further payments and/or recover already paid funding.

Use of AI in processing and evaluating of applications

The Foundation employees and expert committees are not allowed to use external AI platforms to process or evaluate applications. Our online service includes an integrated, secure AI feature that enables the Foundation employees and expert committees to analyse the information given in the applications. The AI features runtime memory is cleared after processing has been completed, no data is saved permanently. The AI generated output only supports decision-making and is always reviewed by a person. The AI does not make recommendations for funding. All decisions concerning applications are always made by humans.

Future updates to this policy

The Foundations recognises that AI and its application are evolving rapidly and, over time, AI may create new forms of creative work in music. The use of AI in the processing of applications may also change, and the Foundation will update its AI and related policies accordingly as the creative landscape continues to develop.
