Prior to this appointment, Kirves has worked as the executive producer of the Art goes Kapakka Festival and at the Helsinki Events Foundation managing, among others, Helsinki Festival’s Art Gifts (Taidelahjat), Block Concerts (Korttelikonsertit) and Street Corner Concerts (Kadunkulmakonsertit) projects. She has also participated in the artist production of Music Finland’s Arctic Paradise showcase and worked as a marketing and account manager for the Eventmore event app. Additionally, she has worked in various roles at several of Finland’s largest festivals. In her role as Grant Coordinator, Kirves will oversee the Foundation’s grant processes and continue to develop both the forms and practices of funding Finnish music.
“We warmly welcome Lissu Kirves to the Foundation. Her structured and proactive approach to work and eagerness to learn, combined with her excellent knowledge of the Finnish music industry and long-term experience of working with music creators, convinced us that she is the right person for this role,” says Foundation Director Teijamari Jyrkkiö. Kirves starts in her new position at the beginning of August. She is excited to advance our goals to increase the diversity and number of top-level professional Finnish music creators, and to help them and their works to reach audiences both in Finland and abroad.
“I have always appreciated music creators and am an enthusiastic consumer of Finnish music. I am honoured to be working for people who reflect the world through music and offer their vision for audiences to interpret. Music brings people together and moves them. It is exciting and meaningful to be involved in building something new within the field, and promoting and elevating Finnish music creators,” Kirves sums up her upcoming role.
The Teosto Cultural Foundation began its operation in 2024 with the mission to support Finnish music and the operating conditions of its creative professionals. The Foundation aims to increase the artistic and financial value of Finnish music.
